Treatment for Rheumatism – Natural Treatment for Joint Inflammation – Joint Pain
By rheumatism we understand any of the variety of disorders marked by inflammation, degeneration, or metabolic derangement of the connective tissue structures, especially the joints and related structures, and attended by pain, stiffness, or limitation of motion.
Rheumatism can be: infectious (arthritis, due to the presence of an infectious agent in the joint), inflammatory (seen in system diseases), microcrystals in the joint that cause gout, degenerative (osteoarthritis caused by joint degeneration).
Natural Treatments for Rheumatism
Fruits and vegetables are recommended both for internal use (adjuvant as depurative, with elimination of uric acid and urate), and for external use, such as decongestants and pain killers.
Black currant: it is useful both for its fruit and leaves. Eat fresh fruits or as juice. Infusion of dried fruits: Put 1-2 tablespoons of dried fruit in a cup of boiling water; leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes; drink 2-3 cups per day. Infusion of leaves: put 2 teaspoons of leaves per cup of boiling water, leave to infuse for 10 minutes; drink 3 cups a day, between meals.
Apples & Pears: consume up to 1 kilogram per day; make a decoction from a tablespoon of dried fruits to a cup of boiled water; let it soak for 10 minutes; drink 3 – 4 cups per day, sweetened to taste.
Courgettes (zucchini): is a summer squash which can reach nearly a meter in length, but which is usually harvested at half that size or less. It is usually cooked and presented as a savory dish or accompaniment.
Horseradish: is useful both internally and externally and has revulsive properties. Soak 2 tablespoons of grated horseradish in (0.5 liters) two cups of hot milk for one hour; drink it in the morning, after breakfast. Local or general Bath: pour hot water of 95-113 ° F (35-45 ° C) over a gauze bag with horseradish meal; consider a heaping tablespoon of horseradish flour to 1 liter of water. Shake the bag in the bath water; bath should last for 20 to 30 minutes. Friction the inflamed area with a tincture made from 20 g of grated horseradish soaked in 100 ml of alcohol for 2 weeks.
Watercress: Consume as salad or fresh juice, 60-150 ml daily.
Parsley is useful both for roots and leaves. Make the decoction from 50 grams of roots to 1 liter of water; pour the water over the minced parsley roots and boil it for 5 minutes; let it cool and drink 2-3 cups per day.
Celery: drink celery juice, 100 g in the morning before meals or as a decoction made from 30 g celery to 1 liter of water; pour boiled water over the minced celery and let it set for 10-15 minutes; drink 2-3 cups a day.
Garlic is a natural treatment for both internal use and for external use. Decoction will be made from 2-3 garlic cloves and 200 ml of boiled water or milk; let it stand for 10-15 minutes; then drink the whole amount of liquid throughout the day. Put cooked garlic poultice to the affected area as hot as you can stand it.
Cabbage: is useful in arthritis. The treatment is the juice of cabbage , one glass per day, between meals 2-3 weeks long. Put poultices with crushed leaves and the stem removed, secure it with a bandage; change the poultices 2 times a day.
