What is constipation?
Constipation means having a bowel movement less than 3 times per week.
Usually it’s associated with hard stools or difficulty passing stools.
You may have pain while passing stools or may be unable to have a bowel movement after straining or pushing.
When it takes a lot of effort to pass stool or you rarely have a bowel movement, you have constipation.
The most common causes of constipation are:
- Low-fiber diet
- Lack of physical activity
- Not drinking enough water
- Delay in going to the bathroom when you have the urge to move your bowels
- Stress and travel
Natural Remedies for Constipation
You can prevent constipation using simple home remedies:
Cherries, Sour Cherries
Eat fresh cherries or sour cherries 300-500 gr before breakfast. You also can drink an infusion of cherries. Pour a cup of hot water over 1 tablespoon of dried cherries; let infuse for 10-15 minutes; drink the infusion in the morning on an empty stomach.
Eat raw apple with the peel still on them. Of course, you must wash the apple well before eating.
Laxative syrup from apple for children: put apple juice and sugar in equal parts in a cup, boil the mixture of the low heat until becoming of syrupy consistency. Children should drink this syrup in the morning on an empty stomach.
Olive oil is very useful because it does not cause colic. For this reason can be used by adults and children.
Drink 1-2 tablespoon of olive oil in the morning on an empty stomach; then drink a cup of warm water.
For children it’s enough one teaspoon of olive oil, which must be taken in the same way.
