Home Remedies for Dental Abscess

Home Remedies for Dental Abscess

A dental abscess is a painful infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and a tooth.

Bacteria from dental caries can extend into the gums, the cheek, the throat, beneath the tongue, or even into the jaw or facial bones.

A dental abscess can become very painful when tissues become inflamed or due to the pressure within the abscess.

To reduce the pain and swelling of the face and the cheek caused by a dental abscess, apply compresses (bags) with ice on the outside of the cheek. Applying heat on the affected area should be avoided.

Fruits and vegetables recommended by me are only a temporary solution for reducing the pain, until you are able to go to the dentist.

Here there are some home remedies for dental abscesses:

Horseradish

Prepare a tincture from 20 g grated horseradish and 1/3 cup (100 ml) of alcohol, and then let it soak for two weeks. Apply this tincture directly into the cavity of decay using a swab. If you don’t have the tincture, you can use grated horseradish instead.

Parsley

The juice of parsley leaves is a natural treatment, that will help to reduce the pain until you will be able to see a dentist. The juice of parsley leaves is effective in dental neuralgia. Mix equal proportions of parsley juice and alcohol 70°; then apply this tincture on the affected area using a small swab.

Onion

Place a slice of onion on the grill, and let it bake until is becoming golden brown; allow it to cool and apply the baked onion onto abscess.

Onion juice is another home remedy for dental abscesses. Place 2 teaspoons of chopped onion in 8 oz. (250 ml) of water. Boil the mixture for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain it and make gargle with this juice several times a day .

Garlic

The juice of raw garlic helps to kill the infection due to garlic’s antibacterial properties. If you are experiencing a bad toothache, and you need relieve, use one raw garlic clove; crush and squeeze it to get the juice from it, and then apply the juice on the infected area using a small swab. This home remedy works out in a toothache or a dental abscess.

Chamomile

Place 3 tablespoons of dried chamomile flowers in 8 oz. (250 ml) of boiling water. Allow the infusion to cool and rinse your mouth every hour using this infusion. Chamomile tea acts as a strong antibiotic.

Propolis

What is Propolis? It’s a complex mixture of tree and plant resins, vegetable balsams, waxes, essential oils and pollen that bees collect and use for sealing off the bee hive.
Propolis has been used in traditional medicines for thousands of years for its potent antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Propolis is applied as it is, or as a tincture.
Apply raw Propolis on the affected area for 2-3 hours long as a treatment.

How to prepare the Propolis tincture?

Mix 10 grams of Propolis with 50 ml of alcohol 98°. Let it soak for 14 days; meanwhile shake the content every day.

Apply the tincture on the affected area using a cotton ball, several times a day.

This tincture is also good to treat skin infections, minor cuts, and scrapes.

Therefore, I recommend you to have the Propolis tincture in your home.
